Now, at 34 I may be a little young to pull the “back in my day” card, but it seems neighborhoods just aren’t the same as I remember.
Or are they?

I was recently out of the country for my wedding and was a little nervous about leaving my home here in Indianapolis for 2+ weeks. However, knowing that I have great neighbors, and after firing off an email to them reminding them of the dates, I immediately felt better and was able to enjoy the Caribbean without any worry! (a couple of BBC’s by the pool didn’t hurt either)
We often associate these types of close-knit communities with the suburbs. But I live in Indy and spend my days touring neighborhoods all over, and I see it all around our city; Broad Ripple and Irvington, just to name a couple. I like to think the Midwest is a bit ahead of this curve, but your mileage may vary. The bottom line is that we could all probably stand to be a little more neighborly these days, especially with the number of foreclosures and vacant houses in our community.
So what type of neighbors do you have?
And more importantly, what type of neighbor are you??
