Summer is just about here and Indy has no shortage of destinations and events to fill your calendars. Getting outdoors and celebrating all the city has to offer during the beautiful summer season couldn’t be easier with the options available. If you’ve been waiting to slip your feet into the cool grass and sip on an icy drink, this is your time.
Sports and the sun are a classic no one should miss this season. The Indianapolis Indians at our very own Victory Field have cheap tickets all summer with a firework show after Friday night games. Sit back and enjoy a local Sun King beer with Indianapolis’s baseball family. You can enjoy the game from the Coors Light cove or relax in the outfield on the Ivy Tech lawn.
Live music never sounds better than it does in the summer and luckily Indy provides some awesome audio options. If you love the laid back vibe on the Canal stop by for the Summer Concerts on the Canal. Free seating is available on the grass and tables and single seats are available for purchase as well. Guests of the series can visit the Stardust Terrace Cafe for outdoors grilling or cash bar treats if they don’t want to bring along their own. You are also able to bring your own picnic to enjoy during the show for a romantic night out.
Symphony on the Prairie has been entertaining Indianapolis and its visitors for 35 years. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is welcomed again this season to Conner Prairie to continue this Indy tradition. A great place to meet up with friends or family for a phenomenal night out, you can bring your own food and blankets or visit the concession stand nearby. This year’s lineup includes a tribute to the late David Bowie and performances from both Toto and The Temptations.
Not to be missed, Friday on the Farm at Trader’s Point Creamery offers one of the most unique experiences in Indy this summer. Enjoy a Friday night out with live music and a mini tour of the grounds. Guests can also play lawn games and check out the umbrella bar lounge with new friends and neighbors. For the highlight of these farm nights spring for the farm-to-table Dinner on the Deck and outdoor dairy bar, complete with handmade ice creams. Try out their stunning Loft restaurant for even more farm-to-table dishes during the week that won’t disappoint.
For a quick way to get around or explore the city, the Indy Cultural Trail runs an extensive 8 miles of paths and art spread about the city. Riders can utilize the Indiana Pacer’s Bikeshare program or walk along the self-guided tour. With no designated start or stop you can make this trail your own throughout the six diverse cultural districts across our metro. Whatever you decide to give a go, get outside and enjoy the season!
