Cnn’s Money Magazine has ranked Indianapolis tops in the country for having the most affordable housing market. The annual report takes several factors into consideration, including median income, mortgage rates and real estate prices.
The numbers read like this:
Median home price: $102,000 (far below national avg)
Median income: $66,900
Affordability score: 95.8%
Indy edged out #2 Dayton, Ohio, while Cincinnati rounded out the list at #10.
The nation is getting a glimpse into what Hoosiers have known for years; Indy is a great place to live! Adding to the economic numbers is the multitude of industry leading employers such as Eli Lilly, Interactive Intelligence, Dow AgroSciences, Sallee Mae and Simon Property Group.
Tourism has also helped get Indianapolis into the nation’s eye in recent years. The city’s impressive handling of Super Bowl XLVI surprised some, but pleased all and has become a benchmark for upcoming Super Bowls. Not to mention ongoing events like NCAA Basketball and the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indy 500, which draws over 200,000 fans each year.
